The Book Foundation Programs
We deliver our literacy program through two models:
BOOK NOOKS:
Our innovative model we call Book Nooks, allows us to create a curated permanent selection of books that can be managed by staff or student and installed in environments that serve a high concentration of vulnerable and underserved communities; Title 1 Charter Schools, Foster Family agencies, supported housing programs and more. Depending on the needs, we also transform spaces by providing new furniture, paint, and shelving to create a welcoming reading environment.
Existing Book Nooks:
A Bridge Home - Venice Endeavor College Prep
Bailey House Gasden House
Bright Star Charter School Opportunity House
Canby House Pacoima Place
Casa Azul Dolores T. Richardson School
Children’s Bureau - Magnolia Place The SEED School of LA County
Children’s Bureau - Oakwood Volunteer League of the SFV
City Language Immersion Center Wallis House
Covenant House California Watts Learning Center
Upcoming Book Nooks:
Magnolia Science Academy #4
Mission Tiny Homes - Boyle Heights
West Adams/Leimart Park FamilySource Center
We are currently putting into motion a new initiative, a Book Club program where TBF facilitators will visit a select group of partner locations on an ongoing basis to run book clubs. In an effort to create a deeper level of engagement and a safe space for informed discourse and discovery. In locations where there are families, our curriculum will include learning tools for parents and guardians to better engage and promote reading with their children.
Current Book Club: Downtown Women’s Center
